What is AIHA?

Anemia is a very dangerous condition in both people and pets, where the body does not have an adequate amount of healthy red blood cells. Red blood cells carry the supply of oxygen to all the body's organs and tissues. More importantly, the brain is dependent on oxygen to function. If the oxygen level is too critically low, seizures and brain damage could occur and the body will shut down organ functions.

Please see a qualified medical or veterinary professional first, as acute anemia is a very critical, life-threatening condition. Below is our holistic experience helping anemic pets and people. We have more pet testimonials because we focus on holistic pet solutions. People are more reluctant to share their personal health history. The "wholistic" principles below apply equally to both people and pets.

If you have come to this page because your dog has Auto-Immune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA) or Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) and you are searching for a cure, our hearts go out to you. AIHA and IMHA are such dreadful conditions, no pet guardian should have to experience these conditions alone. The Morris Animal Foundation estimates:

  • 50% of dogs die within two weeks of diagnosis
  • The mortality rate is up to 80%

Please do not wait any longer to take action. A dog's condition can change in as little as 4 hours. The first AIHA/IMHA client we helped was in 2002. Since then we have helped 1150+ IMHA clients (some had a red blood cell count as low as 3). In sharing our experiences below, we hope to ease your journey and that of your pet.

Conventional Western medicine does not hold much hope for an animal whose blood count (HCT or PCV) is below 10%. We have many clients whose dog's lowest red blood cell count was below 10% (3-8% range) and they are still alive today. If you want a complementary option to the Prednisone, Neoral (cyclosporine), Azathioprine, Oxyglobin, Antepsin and other drugs, continue reading.

Prednisone and Prednisolone are the most commonly prescribed drugs and while they do suppress the body's immune system from attacking itself, they do nothing to regenerate the red blood cells that are being destroyed at an accelerated rate, resulting in anemia. When red blood cells are not manufactured at the bone marrow level, frequent blood transfusions are needed and this condition is often fatal. Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) or Auto-Immune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA) have a very high fatality rate (nearly 50-80%). Some vets are seeing the onset of this auto-immune disease shortly after vaccinations. In Dr. Jean Hofve's article on Vaccination she states:

"Several known risks are associated with one or more specific vaccines. Antibodies are the goal of vaccination. We want the body to produce antibodies against the disease being vaccinated against. However, the vaccine manufacturing process contains some quirks that cause the body to make antibodies to a wide variety of components in the vaccine. Diseases associated with the tissues to which autoantibodies are made include thyroiditis (which can lead to hypothyroidism in dogs), lupus, cardiomyopathy, and autoimmune hemolytic anemia."

Others IMHA/AIHA cases have begun during pregnancy, just after delivery, after the first "heat" and just after Flea and Tick remedies or heartworm treatment. Based on our holistic (non-medical) perspective, we suspect any hormonal changes or anything that compromises the immune system could trigger these auto-immune conditions.

These results are individual case studies. We cannot guarantee your animal"s results will be the same. Since each animal"s body responds differently to the super nutrition in BioPreparation/BioSuperfood your results will be different. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. "Pooch had a rough night and needed CPR because he collapsed and his heart stopped. They were able to revive him and gave him his tenth blood transfusion for IMHA. His lowest PCV was about 8. I am happy to report that his PCV is now 45, in the normal range. We cannot thank you enough for your assistance. We are so happy we would like to begin BioSuperfood for ourselves. "

"Nino’s weight has been holding and his energy is that of a puppy—full of life and joy. Every time I look at him, I feel blessed that he was able to rebound from his perilous (IMHA) condition. Again, I thank you, Russell, for your assistance during what was for Nino and me a very difficult time. From the bottom of my heart, I send you my utmost gratitude. Nino’s return to health was the best Christmas present I have ever received. "

"Vets said it was a 50/50 chance. I am feeding her with a syringe and carrying her outside to potty. This morning's blood count is 39!!!!! within the normal range now. Has only been on the BioPreparation for about 10 days. We are so happy!"
